“Dewy”, “radiant”, and “glowing” are just some terms to describe the mainstream idea of beauty. Another one? Natural.

Rather than caking one’s face with foundation and powder, many have resorted to a no-makeup makeup look. This means using makeup products to cover up blemishes while giving a bright and wide-eyed look without making it obvious that you are, in fact, using makeup. The whole fascination behind this trend is the idea of effortless perfection.

However, the notion of having a glow-y yet natural look may seem impossible without your social media filters, which leads us to the question: what is the key to balancing a naturally flawless look?

Here are six steps to achieve it:

1. Tinted Moisturiser

Light, airy, and most importantly, dewy. Forgo your typical makeup prep, the tinted moisturiser has you covered. The fastest and most natural way to cover up your blemishes while looking hydrated would be to apply tinted moisturiser as a base. It acts as a lighter version of foundation and a moisturiser at the same time. This leaves your skin with a natural glow.

Simply apply your tinted moisturiser evenly on your face with your fingertips, just like you would with a normal moisturiser!

2. Concealer

Still having dark circles and red spots peeping through your tinted moisturiser? Fret not! Correct them with a concealer. Lighter than foundation, a concealer is used to target only certain areas of the face.

For blemishes, dab and blend the concealer into targeted areas. As for your under eyes, be sure to pat the concealer lightly so as to create a more subtle effect.

BONUS: Use a hydrating concealer for a glow.

3. Cream blush

A cream blush blends into your cheeks, giving you a natural, rosy look

Unlike powder-formulated blushers, a cream blush is used to create a subtle effect. It gives anyone a healthy flush in the cheeks while having a natural glow finish. Not to mention, it stays longer than a typical powder-formulated blush!

Gently pat the cream blush on your cheeks in a circular movement with your fingertips, and build it up from there.

4. Eye Shadow

Forget the metallic glittery worlds of Pat McGrath and Urban Decay. Instead, try something new and pick a single matte shade that is slightly darker than the colour of your eyelids. A warm colour is recommended to help enhance the shape of your eyes while keeping it natural looking.

Use your finger or a dense and rounded brush to blend the eyeshadow into the crease of your eye sockets.

BONUS: If you’re feeling adventurous, blend your eye shadow along your lower lash-line to make your eyes “pop”.

5. Mascara

Be sure to not share your mascara wand to avoid any eye infections!

Whether it’s a girls’ night out or a lazy Sunday brunch, skipping out on mascara is almost a cardinal sin. This is the one step that makes all the difference. It helps to darken and define your eyelashes and it covers up any eye makeup mistakes as most of the focus would be on your now-enhanced eyelashes.

Apply two coats of mascara onto your top lashes, and a coat on your bottom lashes.

BONUS: Use an eyelash curler before applying mascara for a more doll-like look.

6. Lip tint

Unfortunately, not all of us are blessed with naturally rouged lips. But fortunately for us, we have lip tints to help us out with that. The popularity of this Korean trend has extended across the globe, as Western makeup brands such as Australis and Body Shop releasing similar lip products. They are versatile in terms of shades and appear light on your lips, giving you a youthful and rosy look. Plus, lip tints have a long-lasting effect!

First, prep your lips with a lip primer for hydration. Then, apply the lip tint onto the centre of your lips and spread it out evenly with your fingertips.

BONUS: For an even more glow-y look and a pouty effect, apply gloss over your lip tint.

And there you have it! Our six steps to achieve a natural dewy look. Be sure to use a setting spray afterwards for an even more radiant look and to ensure that your makeup stays in place.
