Say goodbye to short and straight eyelashes. Long, luxurious lashes are here to stay!

It comes to nobody’s surprise that lashes on Asians are often considered short and straight, we’ve heard it our whole lives. Perhaps some of you have even received unsolicited comments about them!

When it comes to lashes, upturned, thick and long lashes are considered the ideal, and with this sort of beauty standard, it’s no wonder eyelash perms, eyelash extensions, eyelash tints and lash lifts are so popular and sought after.

In Singapore, the market for such beauty procedures are very much in demand, and it looks like they aren’t going away anytime soon.

However, not everybody is going to spend money and time to get these things done to their lashes. Perhaps it’s the expenditure you’re worried about, perhaps it’s the upkeep.

After all, taking care of lash extensions is tedious and makes everyday things like washing your face very difficult. It can be a chore that some may not find all that worthwhile.

In such cases, what can be done to help your lashes be beautiful?

1. Good Old Mascara

There is much to be said about a good mascara. It is hard to come by, and when you find one that suits you, you cling onto it praying that the brand won’t discontinue it for some reason.

With such a large selection of mascaras out there, how can you find the right one for you? Well, for Asian eyelashes, start by looking for something that has a smaller brush applicator as this will allow you to access shorter or more stubborn eyelashes you have.

Apply mascara from the roots, move your brush from side to side to ensure even layers on your eyelash. This will also give your eyelashes a more volumized appearance that will prove helpful for Asian eyelashes. Paired with a mascara with a volumizing formula, you’d be set to go!

While we’re on the topic, do not shy away from eyelash curlers! They can make a huge difference in the effect your mascara has on your lashes.

2. Castor Oil/Coconut Oil

Castor oil is a hair growth elixir. It has been used for centuries as a way for women to grow their hair quickly. With brittle and sparse eyelashes, castor oil may do wonders for you. If you find that your eyelashes are patchy and short, try castor oil.

Coconut oil is the same. You’ve probably heard of the wonders it can do. If it isn’t a face mask, it’s a moisturiser. It is used in so many ways to enhance one’s beauty, and it is definitely worth a shot if you’re trying to grow your eyelashes.

For an even more stimulating effect, you could mix castor and coconut oil to make a simple concoction for your lashes. Mix equal parts of them together, and apply from the root of your eyelashes to the tip.

Ensure that you do not get any of it in your eyes!

3. Keratin Treatments

In lash lifting procedures, keratin is commonly used and paired with other chemicals.

However, you don’t have to have a lash lift done to reap the benefits of keratin.

There are many treatments out there, be it for hair, eyelashes or eyebrows, that focus on hair growth using keratin as its main ingredient.

Used in the right way and in an appropriate amount paired with good ingredients, keratin can restore your lashes to its full glory and give you thick, full lashes.

Give it a try!

4. Effective Makeup Removers

After a long day of out of the house, all you want to do is curl up and sleep, but make sure you take off your makeup first!

Leaving makeup on for prolonged periods of time can really harm your lashes.

Pick up a good makeup remover with oil to easy remove stubborn makeup and mascara. Ensuring that you go to bed with a fresh, clean face is crucial to the health of your eyelashes.

Over time, overexposure to chemicals in makeup can cause your lashes to be brittle, weak and thin.

As much as possible, do not tug on your eyelashes when removing eye makeup.

Which one of these tips would you incorporate into your skincare routine?
